Nigerian American Lawyers Association, Inc.

Community. It’s how we survive. It’s how we thrive. I, for one, know that I would not be where I am today without the support of my network. This includes my family, my friends, my colleagues and yes, it also includes you! Knowing that there are many giants who have paved the way for me, it has always been important that I continue to reach back and do the same for those following in my footsteps. For this reason, I serve as a member and now, the President of The Nigerian American Lawyers Association, Inc. (NALA).

Through my role in NALA, I have the immense privilege of championing initiatives that financially support law school students, provide mentorship to freshly minted attorneys, offer networking and continuing education for the legal community, and participate in outreach programs that inform local citizens of their legal rights while also sharing resources with the less fortunate.

Since starting in 2015, NALA has been a model of service and a great source of camaraderie. Among its most noteworthy achievements is the organization’s contribution to social justice initiatives. Many of you may remember the news about the Chibok Girls abducted in Nigeria back in 2016. NALA and its members led the charge against Boko Haram insurgencies and their sympathizers, resulting in the freedom of many of these young girls. On top of that, these brave girls, through the effort of committed NALA members, have also received a new lease on life, enrolling in universities across the United States.

Being a part of an organization that is dedicated to its members, in addition to the well-being of the greater national and global community has been such an inspiration and a huge honor. I love that I have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of people I see every day, as well as people I may never have a chance to meet.

Coretta Scott King once said, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” I must say, it is an absolute joy and honor to be connected to and serve this great community! As always, I want to thank you for being an active part of the Omena Law family. We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and have many opportunities to spread love to the people in your world!
