Conversations with Chinwe

Can you believe we are in the final month of
the year?! Apart from the holidays, December often
brings introspection. In this month’s Conversations,
reflecting on her journey, Chinwe has some advice for
those interested in entrepreneurship, as well as a
message for those of us seeking to live our best, most
fulfilling lives. Hope you’ve got your journal ready for
notes!

I love it…What would you say to your younger self, now
looking back?

So I don’t remember what that Chinwe was thinking
apart from having crushes on cute boys and stuff and
reading Sweet Valley High and all of that. I really can’t
remember what I was thinking. I remember what I was
into, but just in general, I’d tell my younger self to
relax. I didn’t do a lot of that. I’m so type A. I was
always planning. So “I’ll do this and when I turn this
age I’ll do this”. Like I mapped out everything because
that’s how I operate. I would have told myself to relax,
have fun, don’t overthink anything. Don’t think too much
about the future. Just be in the moment and stop trying
to make everything go right. Like life will be fine
because upon all the planning, what is going to happen
is going to happen.

Yeah.

My planning is not just about business. Planning oh
when I want to get married, when I have kids, the kind
of guy I have to date, he has to be serious! I’d have
been like “Woah, have fun!” I would have told myself to
live a little. No, not live a little, live A LOT!

Live a lot!

Stop planning. Live in the moment. Be wild! Have fun!
Run around! You will still probably end up where you
are. I will have told myself that. It’s not a regret. That’s
something I wished had happened. So I’m trying to do
that with my 2.0 self.

That’s what I was going to say, like, how does that now
translate to current Chinwe? Like, are you trying to live
in that now?

I am. So, I’ve always traveled, I’ve always been
adventurous, but I’ve always planned my life, Solape.
Chinwe now is just learning to live life without
overthinking and just know that many things are not in
my control and I should just calm down.

Q & A Why does the insurance company ask for pre-accident medical records?

I get asked this question by many of my clients who are often confused as to why the insurance company has the right to ask for and review their medical records before the date of the accident. Sometimes the requests go as far back as three to five years, and rightfully so, many clients are not enthusiastic about this request because they feel it is a violation of their privacy. These requests are very common in cases where there are pre-existing injuries before the accident. The insurance companies need these records to determine what the pre-existing injuries are and where the overlap in your injury is. You don’t usually have a choice in these cases and if the records are not produced before a lawsuit, the insurance company will retrieve them during the discovery stage of the lawsuit. The idea is to gather as much information as possible and determine whether or not your injury was caused or amplified by the accident in question.
