When you get a traffic ticket and you decide you don’t want to pay the fine you must request for a trial. At the bottom of the ticket there should be a box where you select the option for a trial that must be mailed to the address provided on the ticket. In Maryland, the request for a trial needs to be received within 30 days of the traffic violation. If the request for trial is not received and you don’t pay the fine, your driver’s license will be suspended. For some people, the only notice they will receive is when they are pulled over and given another traffic citation for driving on a suspended license which carries jail time.
