This is a harsh rule in Maryland and Washington D.C. that states if the injured victim of a car accident was at fault for the accident, they will recover nothing for their medical bills, pain and suffering. Even if they were only 1% at fault for the accident they recover nothing. Contributory negligence is an absolute bar to recovery.
